Old Book… New Book

Before I became a Christian I read the Bible. I thought that I should read it– not because I wanted to be a Christian but because I thought that I should compare it to the books on comparative religion that I was reading at the time. I thought that the Bible would pale in comparisome to the other world religions. I was wrong.

I continued to read the Bible after I became a Christian (Duh?). I’m always amazed at the people who will fight over scripte but never read it. So I still read the Bible. KJV or ESV depending on the day. I re-read what I’ve re-read. Why? Because there’s alaws something new.

For example…

Last Sunday I was reading and researching Acts 11:26 and saw something quite profound. It was a revelation really. It spoke to my spirit. I’ve been pondeirng on it ever since. “They were called Christians”. The word called doesn’t mean what you think. The meaning is much deeper. I’ll be sharing this revelation Sunday at Christ Cathedra. If you can’t be here you can download the message “TheoTokas” next week.

I’ll keep reading the scriptures. Who know’s what I’ll find next!?!

Reading The Scripture

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God and if profitable…” II Timothy 3:16…

Every so often I share “how to read the Bible” in a message and I’m always asked– “will you rite that down. So here it is–

Start with the Gopel of John… it reveals Jesus. Follow with the next book in the New Testament– Acts. Acts shows how the church began and how Jewish beleivers became Christian Next read the first Gospel– Mathew. Then read Romans. Followed by Mark. Then move on the 1 Corinthians. Then Luke. After you read Luke read 2 Corinthians, then continue with the Pauline Epistles, and General Epistles (i.e. the rest of the New Testament). STOP when you get to the Book of Revelation. The early church only put Revelation in the scripture with the EXPLICIT understanding that is was not a book of prophecy- it is an allegory of the battle between good and evil and perhaps a political commentary on the time it was written. There are more veriations in the verses of Revelation than there are actual verses– go figure!

After you’ve finished the last general epistle (Jude) re-read the New Testament. You didn’t get it all the first time. I’ve been reading the Bible for 43 years– read it through–including the boring parts many times– and still get something out of it every time I pick it up.

By the way– after you’ve read the New Testament from Matthew to Jude five or six times– feel free to read Revelation. You still won’t unnderstnd it– no one does– but at least you say to read it!

The Elections are over and Jesus Yet Remains Lord!

It was a divisive and hard fought electoral campaign. Billions were spent and most of us, on both sides, feel spent. One of the challenges of a church as diverse as ours is tempering the victory of the winning side and healing the wounds of the losing. So here it is– the sun rose in the east this morning and will set in the west… the stars are still set in the heavens… the birds are still singing… the skies are still blue… and hopefully… before you are a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent, you are a Christian. And rest assured… Jesus Yet Remains Lord!

A Supernatural Season

That describes what we have been experiencing at Christ Cathedral. Every week people share their stories of God’s SUPERNATURAL SUPPLY—healing, blessing, promotion, and just God “making a way where there seems to be no way”. You can’t explain it except to say that it is supernatural!

You’ve Probably Noticed That Halloween Is Everywhere. What you may not know is that Halloween was
originally a Christian holiday. This month we are affirming that, as I share a series of messages called “A
Supernatural Season.” At the end of the month we will have our annual TRUNK OR TREAT FAMILY FUN DAY and, as always, it will be fabulous.

We Have a Great Team I don’t mention it much but we have a great group of people that make Christ Cathedral the great church that it is. Every week a host of ministries prepare and perform. I won’t mention names— I always forget someone and feel really bad about it—but you know who you are. I thank you and eternity thanks you. You are a blessing!

Encouraged, Energized, Excited, Expectant

Encouraged, Energized, Excited, Expectant…. That’s how I feel after
another great Sunday at Christ Cathedral. I’m always refreshed by the
fellowship, strengthened by the sense of corporate anointing, and touched by
the presence of God. And I must tell you—not every pastor feels that way after
church. We have a remarkable group of people at Christ Cathedral.

Back To The Future September 19-20-21 I can’t tell you when I have been
as excited about a conference. God has set us up for SOMETHING
SUPERNATURAL! We’ve never heard Ryan McCarty live but after meeting him I
know that it will be special. Dwayne Hunt has been with us in years gone—he
was great then but he has a new anointing now. And God has GIVEN ME A
WORD for the closing night of the conference that will RELEASE MIRACLES of
HEALING, BLESSING, AND PROSPERITY.

You Will Never Go Beyond Your Understanding… I’ve got a great joke to
illustrate the point—I’ll share it with you Sunday. If you want to understand the
times, your situation, and God’s directives, you’ll want to hear this message.

This Church is Going to be Really, Really Full

“This church is going to be really, really full really soon”… She was a
visitor from Atlanta. Last Sunday really touched her life. She felt the anointing.
We all did. And after the service was over I stopped to say hello and she said
“This church is going to be really, really full really soon.” I said “Amen.”

There were testimonies… most of them had to do with supernatural
financial increase. There were people gathered from a sixty mile radius,
experiencing the goodness of God. Attendance was strong (though I have yet to
figure out why that one section doesn’t fill up until the last minute!). It was a
great day. But it was more than that. You could feel it in your spirit.

Will Her Word Come True? Who do you know that needs a touch from God
in their life? What can you do to convince them that they will find it at Christ
Cathedral? They will, you know. What we are experiencing is something out of
the ordinary. I expect it to most into the extraordinary. September is harvest
time. For you. For our church. Let’s make her word come true.

Creative Loafing…. Find out if you’re working too hard this Sunday!
Only at Christ Cathedral.

What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You

What you don’t know can hurt you! We are living in the information age. Knowledge is power. The prophet
declared “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge”. You know that to be true. There are some things
about the information age you need to know; some insights into technology that you may have missed. More
important—there are some things that we need to remind ourselves of to prevent information overload. Put it in
your Smart Phone and don’t miss this timely message.

Jesus Prospers… Last week one of our wonderful members shared how, after we prayed, God answered in a
marvelous way. Not only did she win the office productivity pool, she was asked to work her days off at a greatly
increased wage. “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God for it is He that giveth thee POWER TO GET WEALTH!”
(Deut. 8:18).

Have I Told You About?!?! That’s what I’ve been asking all of my friends in ministry. Have I told you about the
Back To The Future Conference? I must say that I am excited about what I feel that the Lord is going to do in this
conference. Actually it is more than a conference—it is three days of inspiration, revelation, information, and
more. HAVE I TOLD YOU THAT YOU ARE INVITED?!?!

It’s going to be a “Future Tech” Sunday—Be Blest!

July Jump

It doesn’t happen too often in the summer… it is indicative of what God is doing at Christ Cathedral…
and it is encouraging… ATTENDANCE JUMPED IN JULY! The services have been punctuated by the power of God.
Testimonies have been told. Increase has been reported. Prayers have been answered. It has been a great month
and I say “Thank You Jesus!”.

Future Forecast… Jesus told the Pharisees that they could tell what the weather would be but couldn’t discern
the signs of the times. Many have tried to parse passages of prophecy in the scriptures and come up with some
novel interpretations of the times. This series won’t do that. WHAT IT WILL DO IT PREPARE YOU TO

EXPERIENCE ALL THAT GOD HAS IN THESE CHANGING TIMES. Your faith will be built. You peace will prevail. Your
future will be sure. That’s your Future Forecast!

Your Children (and Grandchildren) Need This Blessing!! The power of impartation is an amazing thing.
This Sunday we will be imparting peace, power, preservation, and even prosperity into the lives of our school age
children. We have back to school gifts for all of them, a “survival bracelet”, and they will enjoy hot dogs, chips, and
soft drinks in Adventure City.

By The Way… Did you know that Adventure City is the fastest growing ministry in the church. Five new
volunteers this month alone! Great Job “PC”, Renee and Charles Gray, and the entire Adventure City team.

See You Sunday.. Be Blest!

An Abundance of Rain

I Hear the Sound of An Abundance of Rain…. Most Sunday afternoons I spend an hour encouraging and
being encouraged talking to several of the pastors and ministers that consider me their spiritual covering. Last
Sunday I was walking and talking when the heavens opened in a deluge. I told the man on the other end of the
phone, “I HEAR THE SOUND OF AN ABUNDANCE OF RAIN.”

I Believe It to Be a Word From God…. We have seen some excellent miracles and healing in recent weeks.
There have been an abundance of prosperity testimonies. The Spirit of the Lord has moved in every service. GOOD
THINGS ARE HAPPENING! And I hear the sound of an abundance of rain.
Back To The Future… While in prayer a few weeks ago the Lord spoke to me “Back to the future.” I immediately
knew that was the theme of our fall conference. Mark the dates on your calendar September 19-20-21. Evening
services will be at 7 P.M.—morning sessions will be from 10-12 noon. Joining with me will be Pastor DWAYNE
HUNT, Memphis, TN, Pastor WESLEY BRYANT, Jacksonville, FL, BISHOP PAUL CRITES, Nashville, TN, and many
others. It will be an awesome trip as we go BACK TO THE FUTURE!

WAR ANGELS… If you’re in a battle who do you want watching your back? War Angels! Don’t miss this
message—it’s happening Sunday at Christ Cathedral.

Sounds Like Summer

Sounds Like Summer… Ice Cream… fireworks… children running around everywhere… and desserts—there
were some wonderful desserts! I’m describing our Ice Cream Social. It was great fun—especially for the children.
The city of Dayton put on a good fireworks display that we were able to see from the comfort of our parking lot. Put
it on your calendar for next year!

Improve Your Vision… Visionary Faith is the key to unlocking all Heaven has. This Sunday you’ll improve your
vision as we look at another of Jesus’ significant miracles and find the key of Visionary Faith. What you see is what
you get. What you focus on becomes a reality. Find your focus this Sunday at Christ Cathedral.

Speaking of Summer… attendance has been solid… new families have been joining us in worship… lives have
been changed… and there have been some outstanding testimonies of healing and prosperity. Summer is here and
if you’re on the road we’re praying “Traveler’s Mercies”. And when you get home there’s a blessing waiting at
Christ Cathedral.

See You Sunday—Be Blest!
